For many athletes, being nominated for Pensacola Athlete of the Week is a dream come true. Pace’s own Atticus Waters and Coach Reggie Allen can say they went further than that. Atticus Waters was nominated as Winter Athlete of the Year and Allen was nominated as Coach of the Year. Waters qualified for state three years in a row and medaled as a senior during his third time. He finished his senior season on top with a 44-6 record, ending his wrestling career with a bang. Coach Reggie Allen created a top-notch wrestling program that Pace takes lots of pride in. This year, four wrestlers placed high enough in Regionals to go to state. This is not an easy feat and is rarely done by any schools. Having one wrestler alone is impressive but having four reflects on how well the program is run. His incredible coaching skills and dedication to his athletes made him more than qualified to receive Coach of the Year. PHS can’t wait to see how the wrestling program will continue to improve in the upcoming years.
